‘The life of a mathematician is dominated by an insatiable curiosity, a desire to solve problems and a passion to continue exploring and inventing for the rest of their lives.’

- Jean Dieudonne

At Galilee we aim to develop student’s love and passion for Mathematics. We encourage our students to pose and solve problems and reason in Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.

We aim to provide our students with experiences that allow them to recognise connections between the areas of mathematics and other disciplines and appreciate mathematics as an accessible, purposeful and enjoyable discipline to study.

We have a contemporary approach to delivering the Victorian Curriculum - Mathematics by providing a stimulating environment with adequate resources so that children can develop their mathematical skills to their full potential. We develop individuals who are numerate, creative, independent, inquisitive, enquiring, confident, risk takers in the area of mathematics.

Ongoing assessment at Galilee drives classroom instruction. We assess students using a variety of tools and methods and use this assessment to differentiate Maths instruction so that everyone is challenged and supported within the classroom. Children have the opportunity to reflect on their own learning through self-assessment and goal setting. Teachers at Galilee provide students with rich tasks that cater for all learning styles.
